Security Waiver

Mandatory Security Waiver


From time to time requests are recieved for security work to be done that is outside the standard operational requirements of the VPN. VEN and Telecom require that any security work which is ouside the standard operational requirements be authorised by the principal of the school. A school will be notified if this security waiver is required.

It will be sufficient for the principal to send the following text (ammended as required inside the {} below) as an email to:

{name of school}

{date}

Special Agreement

To bypass the standard SchoolZone network security features, namely:

{description of security change required - you may wish to consult with your technical people.}

for {name of school}.

Conditions

1) {name of school} accept that we are exposing our school LAN to additional security risks by allowing unfiltered traffic onto our network.

2) We acknowledge that in implementing the required security changes our SchoolZone service is now a non-standard configuration and not fully supported by Telecom, and

3) We agree that if a security breach occurs, we will publicly state, in a timely manner, that;

“The SchoolZone service {name of school} is receiving is a non-standard configuration, as requested by the school. {name of school} has assumed all responsibility for providing adequate internet security protection for the school's IT infrastructure and users”.




Once we have your agreement we can progress the various technical processes needed to be put in place to achieve this.
